  • (A)FT – (Account) Funding Transaction
    A payment transaction used to transfer funds digitally from one account to another, which typically enables the receiving account owner to access deposited funds instantly for transactions or withdrawals.
  • $0 Auth
    A confirmation that a card is active by pushing a zero-dollar transaction through the payment networks.
  • A2A (Account to Account) Transfer
    Direct transfer of funds between two accounts owned by the same individual or business, enabling the account owner to move money securely and efficiently between their financial accounts.
  • ABA – American Banking Association (routing number)
    The routing number portion of a bank account number. They are usually nine digits long, with the first two numbers being between 00 and 12.
  • ACH – Automated Clearing House
    An electronic network that facilitates the transfer of funds between bank accounts in the United States, enabling transactions such as direct deposits, bill payments, and business-to-business payments.
  • Acquirer Processor
    A third-party service provider that processes credit and debit card transactions on behalf of an acquiring bank, handling tasks such as authorization, clearing, and settlement of payments.
  • Acquiring Bank
    A financial institution that sponsors merchants into payment networks, such as Visa, Mastercard, Pulse, Star, NYCE, etc. The acquiring sponsor assumes financial and regulatory liability for acquired transactions and guarantees financial settlement according to network rules.
  • AML – Anti-Money Laundering
    The set of laws, regulations, and procedures designed to prevent the illegal generation of income through actions that conceal the true source of funds, typically associated with criminal activities.
  • API – Application Programming Interface
    An electronic data exchange interface that a company can use to communicate with another technology platform. APIs are often used by businesses to originate payment transactions to a third-party processing system.
